The Fabulous Fourth Graders Take on St. Augustine

        On January 6^th and 7^th, ninety fourth grade students and seventy-one chaperones traveled to St. Augustine, Florida, to culminate the classroom study of Florida history.  In class, the students read about the early explorers and the founding of St. Augustine.  It was exciting to see history come alive as the groups toured many historical sights.  The students enjoyed a musket demonstration and watched a blacksmith make a nail in the Spanish Quarter.  The groups walked through the Castillo de San Marcos, the oldest wooden schoolhouse, the old jail, Flagler Presbyterian Church, and Mission Nombre de Dios.  Students also enjoyed learning about Timucuan Indians and early Spanish life at the Old Florida Museum.  Everyone climbed 219 steps to the top of the St. Augustine Lighthouse and saw magnificent sights.  The students were able to share the love of Christ through their homemade tracks with homeless people in the park.  The students were a real blessing to those in need as well as to all the chaperones on the trip.  The teachers and administration are all very proud of each student.  It was a great trip!

Fun Festivities in First Grade

Wow! First grade had such a wonderful time in celebrating Christmas! From Winter Wednesday, to PJ day, to outreaches, and our Christmas Rotation party! We have been blessed in celebrating the birth of our Savior. What a wonderful way to end 2010! Take a look at some of the fun!

It's Time to Learn Some Spanish

Pre-K and Kindergarten students have been busy learning Spanish with Lola and her friends. Our class is fun-filled with hands-on activities, games, books, and songs. High school and Pre-K students sung together worship songs as our high schoolers were preparing for their missions trip to Mexico. It has been wonderful seeing the kids growing fond of Spanish. I am proud of the progress our Pre-K and Kindergarten classes have made so far.

Having Fun in Elementary Art

With Christmas projects behind us we can now focus on creating fun winter lessons like, penguins, ice skaters, and snow covered hills and trees.

As we strive to reach our new goals, let us give thanks to our Lord, the very one who blesses us with inspiration and who puts those dreams in our hearts and minds.

We look forward to finishing the school year even more creatively than we began it.

News in Movement Class

"It's Beginning to Look alot Like Christmas" here at CCA! We have been preparing our first, second and third graders for their production of the "Christmas Story" outreach. The students have been working diligently for their outreach by learning many Christmas songs and acting out the "Christmas Story" for the last few months. Miss Reeder's first grade class was the first to go out and touch people's lives. The venues for the outreaches vary. Some classes will go to nursing homes as others may go to homeless shelters and/or orphanages. This is one opportunity our students have to take the gospel out into the community. Our prayer is that the Lord will bless our efforts as we share His Story. It truly is the "Greatest Story Ever Told". May your time this season be filled with the true meaning of Christmas.....celebrating our Savior's birth with your wonderful children, family and friends. I have been so blessed to have been with your children this year. I will be saying, "Goodbye" to pre-k, first and third grade, as they will move to Drama the first of the year. I will be saying, "Hello" to kindergarten, second and fourth for the remainder of the school year. On a personal note, I truly love all of them as if they were my own.

CHILDREN'S CROWN AWARD: The reading contest has begun! Students in third through fifth grades are pursuing their reading goals to qualify and be able to come to the Voting Party in April. They only need to read 3, 4, or 5 books, but some will set their goals higher and may read all 20 books on the list. That's quite an accomplishment to attain!

ANSWERS IN GENESIS CONFERENCE: Ken Ham spoke to all elementary students in October. He sparked an interest in learning more about Creation vs. Evolution as well as dinosaurs. We were blessed to purchase many resources from the conference and a large Time Line to add to our collection.

LEARNING IN THE LIBRARY: CAROLINA NELSON, a fifth grader, read a book entitled, Josefina's Craft Book by Tamara England. It tells about life on a ranch in nineteenth century New Mexico and gives instructions for a variety of related craft projects. After reading the book, Carolina then made the cutest denim shoes by following the instructions. What will YOU learn from a library book today???
