Mrs. Whitley's class learns about cells

Third Graders have been learning about the basic building block of life, the cell. They have built models of a plant cell, examined an egg yolk, and observed plant cells under a microscope. They have been learning that cells specialize to form tissues and organs, and have recognized differences between the two. To finish off this unit, Third Graders created their own edible cells and had a delicious time!

Worming their way through books!

Elementary students are "Worming their way through books!" Stop by the bulletin board outside the Library Media Center to see which class is in the lead as the worms inch their way across the board. Worms are moved weekly according to how many AR points each class has earned. The results reflect all points earned in the 2nd quarter. The class with the highest points in each grade level will be rewarded with an ice cream party at the end of the quarter. The board and treats are sponsored by the CCA Community Fellowship.

And the Winner Is...

The votes have been counted and the winner is… John McCain. The 4th grade students at CCA elected John McCain to be the president of the United States with 84 votes while Barack Obama received 13 votes. Students learned important lessons about citizenship and democracy and are eager to see the results of the national election!

5th Grade Trip to Lake Swan

Psalm 104:24 How many are your works, O Lord! In wisdon you made them all, the earth is full of your creation.

Thursday morning bright and early, students, parents and teachers headed to Melrose, Florida near Gainesville for an outdoor learning experience taught from a biblical perspective. The students observed God's creation in its natural state, enjoyed hands-on learning experiences and participated in cooperative team building and problem solving activities. The students learned how to canoe across the beautiful spring-fed lake and then enjoyed a swim in the crystal clear, cool waters. Thursday evening provided clear skies for the students to observe many of the stars and constellations created by our Almighty God. Everyone enjoyed a time of worship, testimonies and s'mores around the campfire. Friday morning the students rose to cool crisp temperatures and enjoyed a hearty breakfast to prepare them for a morning of classes that included learning about the importance of our Florida aquifer and God's plan for even the smallest of critters.
