Back to School Night Detectives
Mrs. Hughes's 2nd Grade class prepared for Back to School Night by hiding from their parents! Each student was photographed with silly glasses as a disguise. Then, the 2nd graders wrote clues about themselves to help their parents identify them. The parents had lots of laughs while finding their student during the classroom time on Back to School Night.

First grade is getting comfy cozy for PJ Day!!
First graders have been working so hard these past 4 weeks of school to earn compliments. Each compliment earns their class a letter in the class "Mystery Message". Some of the messages so far have been "Love One Another" and "Jesus Loves You". Once the message is complete, the first grade classes will vote for a special treat. So far Ms. Reeder's class and Miss Herrmann's class have finished their messages and both voted for "Pajama Day". Kids came dressed for school looking like they just rolled out of bed. In Miss Herrmann's class students were encouraged to bring pillows, blankets, and stuffed animals to curl up with during silent reading time. We ended the day watching a movie and eating yummy popcorn. Mrs. Berardo's, Mrs. Miner's, and Mrs. Matos' classes are all getting close to their first prize. Keep the compliments coming first grade!

Elementary Back To School Night
The Elementary School had their 10th Annual Back To School Night on Tuesday, September 15, 2009 for students in K-3 thru 5th grade. We started in the sanctuary with a flutaphone to "Amazing Grace" led by our elementary music teacher, Mrs. Adkins and performed by our elementary students. What a treat for the parents to hear these students perform for them while glorifying our Lord.
The performance was followed by our school leaders sharing their heart and vision for CCA, the students, the staff, and the parents. Then it was off to the classrooms to visit with the teachers. The night was filled with excitement and emotion as parents didn't just hear the vision, but felt it.
Our movie and popcorn was a sure hit with the kids and gave the parents an opportunity to visit with teachers without having little ones to worry about. Enjoy the pictures, and thank you to everyone who participated in the preparation and participation of our 10th Annual Elementary Back to School Night! God Bless You All...

Parents Rock!
Chapel with Pastor Jorge
We enjoyed an awesome time with Pastor Jorge. He taught us to fully rely on God and to have complete faith in HIM. Pastor Jorge is a blessing to our school, as well as all of the amazing pastors and administrators that speak to us at chapel. The students will always remember F.R.O.G. The teachers will, too! :)
3rd Grade Chapel
Chapel is different this year for the 3rd graders. The songs we sing are more "grown up" than they were last year in 2nd grade. This year, the 3rd graders will also experience personal worship time with God. The students are encouraged to clap and sing along as we praise our King; however they lift their hands in worship on their own as they are drawn to HIM. It is amazing to see the intimate relationship that these children have with our Father.
Time to Eat
Lunch time is anticipated by most 3rd graders. The students enjoy talking with one another and eating delicious food. This year the teachers get to enjoy fellowship time with their students once a week during lunch. It is a treat to hear their conversations and thoughts for the day. It is also wonderful when the parents have an opportunity to eat with their children. We love the parent support we receive at CCA.
Learning Fun!
In third grade, we are enjoying our new English curriculum, Shurley English. The students adore Quigley and the fantastic songs that go along with the rules of grammar. We also are becoming writers as we study the 6 traits of writing as we work through the writing process. The students look forward to sharing their first writing sample with their family and friends.
When I Grow Up...
The third graders at CCA are excited to discover their God-given gifts and talents. The students made self-portraits of what they want to be when they grow up. This year they will have an opportunity to experience different careers that will help them discover what it may be that God is calling them to do as they grow older. The students also discussed with their peers the ways that God will be glorified in their careers.
