Welcome to the CCA Elementary Blog. We created this blog so that we could stay more in touch with parents, students and staff. Periodically we will share what's going on around campus and perhaps some thoughts on topics that impact CCA students and families.
We were blessed to have author, Jenny Cote, grace our stage and excite our students about reading and writing. She was a great inspiration to our students and her books make great family read alouds. If you would like to get one of her books, please visit her website at http://epicorderoftheseven.com/.
We opened in the Fall with brand new carpeting and newly painted walls. What a funky fun place it is for sure. Over 20,000 items have been checked out so far this year. This is a "happening" place!
We kicked off the annual Triple Crown Awards program in October with 150 new books...which are consistently checked out. Remember you have until April to read your minimum in order to vote for your favorite. Please check out our LMC (Library Media Center) web page on the main CCA Eagles site: http://www.ccaeagles.org/lmc.
Fourth graders are once again enjoying the opportunity of being a reading buddy to a kindergarten student. In the beginning of the program, fourth grade students read a book to the kindergarten students, practicing their fluency and expression. Before you know it, the kindergarteners are ready to return the blessing!
Read what one CCA mom has to say about the program....
“My children and I just adore the reading buddies program! What an excellent opportunity for the little ones to have a "big kid" friend and also for the bigger kids to be the leader. As a parent, I have seen the rewards of this program for both the kindergarteners (as my daughter was in Mrs. Fussner’s kindergarten class last year) and now for my 4th grader!! I am so blessed our family is a part of this God sent school!”

3rd Grade Science Lesson The third grade students are studying Ecosystems and Habitats this month. Last week the students went on a local 'field trip' around the school campus to look for living and non-living things. They were so intrigued by the variety of living things living right on their school campus. The third graders are learning that God created plants and animals with certain characteristics that make them suited to a specific habitat.
You could hear the excited chatter in the hall on the first day of the new school year. The fifth grade students were very excited about their new lockers and the start of the new year! The students are learning to rotate classes and manage a locker. The Fifth Grade teachers think they are doing a fantastic job!
